Introduction of Lab Development Planning

 

After 9 years of development, the original Brain & Ecology Comparative Group has made various progresses of basic theory and new synthesis. Included the Comparison study of animal nervous evolutional physiological ecology, the concept of nervous ecological strategy, four dilemmas of brain science research, the comparative analysis method of animal ecological coding, and systematically summarized the development of neo-adaptationistic biology in theory and experiments, and proposed Lorentz's new physiological ideas, the concept of physiological Darwinism, the concept and theory of Deep Structure of Being, and brain deep structure analysis, economic deep structure analysis and their applied tools.

BECG now has published four books, including one in English, "The Development of Neo-adaptationistic Biology", three in Chinese "The Deep Structure of Being" 1,2,3 volumes ,and the latter¡¯s English translation is in progress.

In particular, these both experiments and applied major projects of ¡°Nervous Ecological Strategy and Brain Deep Structures Coding Theory " and "The Economic Deep Structure Theory and the Greenency tool System" have been basically completed after nearly six years of research and preparation. At present the manuscripts of these two new works are being proofread and revised. It is planed to publish those new monographs in 2011-12. The completion of these two studies indicates that BECG turns from the previous basic work of theory research into the new phase of the experimental and applied research. This is an important change; we believe that once the deep-structure theory began to combine with specific experiment and applied research, the major impact will came into being. We will do ours utmost to facilitate this process.

In order to adapt to the shift of work, BECG has made an organizational adjustment and separation of itself in the first half of 2010. The original BECG Database and the Frontier Forum of Theoretical Biology are separated from BECG into an independent Science Media ¨C Annual Focus of Science £¦ Humanity. And it has been registered in Hong Kong. Haina Wha and Daniel Zhang are both Responsible for this work. At the same time the original research programs are retained and shifted to the new direction of experiment. Also, the high-tech application research with commercial value will be sought for the business cooperation and venture capital investment. Winpen Hann will be responsible for both of these works. After the separation, the two different directions formed in the BECG history will be achieved their independent development respectively. The members of the Group will be also more concentrated in the respective interest and expertise. The two organizations and their members will maintain cooperation and mutual support.

For experimental biology, the deep-structure theory has a great significance. The study of the deep-structure theory of BECG has revealed: there are two kinds of structures of Life, functional structure and meaning structure. The latter is the deep structure of life. The present experimental methods of life-science can only effectively analysis the functional structure of life at all levels, but not effectively discover the meaning structure of life at any level. The new experimental method of deep-structure developed on the basis of the summary of the new experimental method bud of neo-adaptationistic biology, which can successfully resolve the deep structure of the nervous system, biological networks system and ecosystems (including economic systems) etc.. This will have incalculable effect on the promotion of many major problems in contemporary life-science, such as the coding of brain networks and brain awareness, biological networks and systems biology, ecological and environmental crisis and its economic sustainability of development, etc.

The program goals of the early stage of the lab are:
1) Further improve the summary of experimental methodology of deep-structure, and strive for working out the typical samples of experimental models;
2) On the basis of the original specific experimental projects, develop the research collaboration with external labs; endeavor to complete several designs, funding arrangement and the preparation in advance of theoretical analysis of some key projects;
3) On the basis of the original applied research projects, develop the commercial cooperation and benefit-sharing with external enterprises and investors£¬working together to model test, semiplant test, and marketing test of these two key projects.
The first phase of the laboratory projects is expected to for 6 years.

The lab's long-term development direction and objective is to develop the deep-structure experiments along with two main clues of A and B on the basis of the deep-structure theory.
A clue: To make deep-structural analysis of different beings objects, such as brain deep-structure, biological network deep-structure, economy deep-structure, deep-structure pathology etc.
B clue: To make deep structural simulation based on the deep structural analysis, such as brain deep-structure simulation, economic deep-structural simulation (greenency system), deep structural modeling of pathology, and so on.

On this basis, the lab will extend gradually the deep-structural analysis of specific species object at every level of life, and will escalate the deep-structural simulation projects, and develop the deep-structural technological systems with higher efficiency and more functionality.

 

 

 

Since the second half of the 20th century, through intraspecific comparative studies, successively substantive phenomena have been found in the fringe of Ecology that changes of environmental factors give rise to intraspecific variations in organism's characters or functions.

 

 

The target of this program is, to summarize intraspecific adaptation comparative experimental system, especially on the experimental methods and theoretical system of neo-adaptationism; to promote creatively the new synthesis between intraspecific adaptation comparative experimental system and Darwin paradigms on the basis of the summary; to found the complete and unified theoretical basis for neo-adaptationism biology.





Since the above-mentioned comparative studies on intraspecific adaptation have a common characteristic that they focus on reductionistic study on adaptation at the micro-physiology level, The book name this new direction as Neo-adaptationism formally. Neo-adaptationism breaks away from the modern evolutionary synthesis firstly which has discarded the gene-centered view of evolution, while shifting attention to phenotypic traits. Secondly, it uses the term "strategy" in its research on microcosmic adaptation.
