---- In the borderland of Ecology, intraspicific adaptation comparation has found a large number of evidences that intraspecies variation in traits and functions may occur in response to environmental changes. For example, environmental changes may lead to adjusted seed size, varied number of offspring, advanced or delayed reproductive timing, diversified sizes of individuals, altered shape and behavior, regulated component phases of life history, influenced physiological and metabolic functions, transformed tissue and organ structures, adjusted sex determination and regulated sex ratio. The discovery and study of the intraspecific adaptive variations demonstrate that within species or within a life history there is a widespread phenomenon of ecological adaptive variation.

---- 1. In the first place the neo-adaptationism breaks away from the modern evolutionary synthesis that it has discarded the gene-centered view of evolution, while shifting its attention to the phenotype.
2. It introduces an analytic framework characterized with the concept "strategy" into the intraspecies phenotypic comparative study.
3. In sequence, it goes deep into micro-biology level, and introduces the concept of strategy into the microcosmically adaptation study.

---- After decades of development, study of intraspecific adaptive physiology and phenotypic adaptation has been turned into a new research field with increasing significance from a negligible issue. It gradually breaks away from the calculative comparation of interspecific strategy. When the intraspecific strategy comparation becomes more and more independent and is attached much more importance, the neo-adaptationism can get a firm foothold. Over the past 20 year this direction was poorly known to the public, but it is indeed the most innovative one among a variety of developmental trends of biology.

Since the second half of the 20th century, through intraspecific comparative studies, successively substantive phenomena have been found in the fringe of Ecology that changes of environmental factors give rise to intraspecific variations in organism's characters or functions.
